BICA call for papers

Dear Colleagues, We (Marco Buratti, Donald Kreher and Tran van Trung) have recently been named Editors-in-Chief of the Bulletin of the Institute of Combinatorics and its Applications (BICA). Our goal is to re-invigorate this publication as well as improve the quality of papers published in it. We are interested in publishing a wider variety of items than before, including expository and survey papers, classroom notes, conference reviews, conference announcements, and news of members, along with research papers. Because there is a lack of material in the pipeline, we encourage all ICA members to submit high quality papers for publication. There will be a dedicated email address for the Bulletin set up in the near future. But for now, please submit your items for possible inclusion in BICA to the following email address:   buratti@dmi.unipg.it . Sincerely yours, Marco, Don and Trung

End-of-year donations!

Hello,  As we build up the ICA bank account to support ICA activities, we would like to mention that it is now possible to make donations to the ICA. Since the ICA is associated with the non-profit FAU Foundation, a donation to the ICA will be tax-deductible.  Please consider making a donation on the following web page:  https://fauf.fau.edu/ica   Of course all donations will go towards ICA activities such as printing and mailing the Bulletin, conference support and ICA medals.  Donors will be acknowledged in the Bulletin of the ICA (unless they wish to remain anonymous).

BICA Updates

The  Bulletin of the Institute of Combinatorics and its Applications  has been published since 1991. Currently, three volumes per year are published. Volume 78 will be dated September, 2016. Three new editors-in-chief for the  Bulletin of the ICA  were selected in late 2016. They will be editing volumes starting in 2017. For 2009, no eligible nominations were recovered, and for 2010, the following medals will be awarded retroactively: Euler Medal 2010 Bojan Mohar Hall Medal 2010 Catherine Greenhill Kirkman Medal 2010 Daniel Horsley, Kai-Uwe Schmidt Each nomination for a medal is to be made by two or more Fellows of the ICA. No ICA medal can be awarded to a current member of the ICA Council; and no Kirkman, Hall, or Euler Medal can be awarded to an Honorary Fellow. Further, nominees for an Euler, Hall, or Kirkman medal must be ICA members in the year for which they are nominated. A nomination must include a complete curriculum vitae and a letter detailing the extent and importance of the nominee's contributions, addressing the selection criteria. Nomination letters should be suitable for inclusion, in whole or in part, in a citation that may appear in the Bullet

An update on the medals

An update on the Medals: Euler Medals  recognize distinguished lifetime career contributions to combinatorial research by Fellows of the ICA who are still active in research. Normally, at most one medal per year is awarded. Hall Medals  recognize extensive quality research with substantial international impact by Fellows of the ICA in mid-career. Recipients must not have reached age 41 before the end of the year for which they are nominated. At most two medals per year are awarded. Kirkman Medals  recognize excellent research by Fellows or Associate Fellows of the ICA early in their research career, as evidenced by an excellent body of published research. Recipients must have earned their doctoral degree within the four years preceding the end of the year for which they are nominated. At most two medals per year are awarded. The tables of content of BICA issues starting in 2002 are maintained by Bill Kocay. In the future, we would like to have BICA completely published online, but it will take some time.
